The competitors in their market believed them to be MUCH larger than they actually were, ergo increasing their visibility and market share. The truth is, they were just a small company with a VERY.BIG.PRESENCE. The pufferfish effect was not meant to every been disingenuous or inauthentic, only to build a rock solid brand that attracted 10’s of thousands of customers and garnered them dozens of business awards in a very short time.
